Panel Type

What is the meaning of Panel Type ?

It refers to the underlying display technology that determines how images are produced, including factors like color accuracy, contrast, brightness, viewing angles, and response time. The most common panel types are IPS (In-Plane Switching), VA (Vertical Alignment), OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode), QLED (Quantum Dot LED), and standard LED/LCD panels.

IPS panels are known for their wide viewing angles and consistent color reproduction, making them ideal for rooms where multiple viewers watch from different positions, though their contrast is usually lower than VA panels. VA panels, in contrast, offer higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks, providing a more cinematic experience in darker environments but with narrower viewing angles. OLED panels represent a more advanced technology where each pixel emits its own light, resulting in perfect blacks, excellent contrast, vibrant colors, and wide viewing angles; however, they are typically more expensive and can suffer from screen burn-in over time. QLED panels use quantum dot technology combined with LED backlighting to enhance brightness and color accuracy, making them suitable for bright rooms while avoiding burn-in issues, though they do not achieve the absolute blacks of OLED. Traditional LED/LCD panels rely on LED backlights behind an LCD layer and can be either edge-lit or full-array, offering a balance between affordability and performance but often with less uniform brightness and lower contrast. Choosing the right panel type depends on your viewing environment, the importance of color and contrast, and your budget, as each technology has its own strengths and trade-offs.
