TV Tuner

What is the meaning of TV Tuner?

A TV tuner is a device or built-in feature in a television that allows it to receive and decode broadcast television signals so that they can be displayed on the screen.

TV tuners can handle different types of signals, including over-the-air (OTA) terrestrial broadcasts, cable, or satellite signals, depending on the tuner type. They convert the incoming radio-frequency signals into audio and video formats that the TV can process and display. Modern TVs often have digital tuners (such as ATSC, DVB-T/T2, or ISDB-T) that support high-definition broadcasts and electronic program guides, while older models may have analog tuners. Some external devices, like set-top boxes or USB tuner sticks, also provide TV tuner functionality for computers or TVs without built-in tuners, allowing users to watch live TV and sometimes record programs.
